Montezuma

The town of Montezuma is a favorite attraction. Known as “Hippy Town,” come hungry, so you can enjoy delicious organic treats, including juices, sandwiches, and salads. From there, hike to Montezuma Falls. Bring water and good shoes because parts of the path can be slippery. Once there, enjoy a dip in the refreshing water, relax by the falls, or go ziplining for some exhilarating excitement.

MalPais

The remote fishing village of Malpais is located in the Puntarenas Province. Near Cabo Blanco National Park this is a favorite destination for adventurers and surfers. The lush landscape includes beautiful beaches, rainforests, waterfalls, and rocky cliffs, and secluded coves. Tourists can go 4-wheeling, fishing, snorkeling, boating, hiking, diving, horseback riding, and biking. There’s something for everyone.

Santa Teresa

Santa Teresa is a unique beach town, and that’s one of the reasons why it’s so popular. Besides incredible restaurants with the freshest of local ingredients and shopping, there are coffee shops and bars. Water sports include surfing lessons, some with a video keepsake, kite-surfing, fishing, snorkeling, or just taking a stroll down the beach. The town offers yoga, private art lessons, and retreats. 

Cabo Blanco

At the tip of the Nicoya Penisula, sits the Cabo Blanco Natural Reserve. Founded in 1963, this area is beautiful, but it is less developed and more remote so traveling around is a bit more adventurous. This tropical forest area is close to Santa Teresa, Mal Pais, and Montezuma. There’s plenty of restaurants, surfing, stand up paddleboarding, windsurfing, and yoga. Cabo Blanco is about an hour from your Los Delfines rental.

Curu National Refuge

Immerse yourself in the jungle. The Curu National Wildlife Refuge has an abundance of wildlife. You’ll likely see pacas, howler monkeys, cappuccino monkeys, deer, colorful parrots, and reptiles. From beaches to rainforests, it’s a favorite spot for outdoor activities, including hiking and birdwatching. Guided tours are available. There’s plenty of horseback riding available too. Pack a lunch or dine locally.

Bara Honda National Park

Whether you like exploring caves or hiking, be sure to visit Barra Honda National Park. Although it’s best known for its limestone caves, the hiking is fantastic. There are guides available (not all English speaking), or you can go on self-guided tours. A word of caution – the trails are challenging, so make sure you’re up to it. Visitors will discover colorful butterflies, iguanas, chattering monkeys, and energetic birds of all colors. 

Tortuga Island

The best way to visit Tortuga Island is by boat. We can help with booking to get you the best price. There are full-day and half-day tours. Many include lunch. But, if you’d rather drive and adventure on your own, it’s less than  30-minutes from your villa. Dining options are limited, so pack food and water. Get ready to see wild pigs, dolphins, and be surrounded by fish if you go snorkeling.

Cabuya Island

An hour’s drive from your villa at Los Delfines Golf & Country Club is Cabuya Island. The best time to visit is when the tide is low so check the tide schedules. Because of the ancient cemetery, this magical island is supposedly haunted by ghosts at night. At low tide, you can walk from the beach to the island. And when a local passes away, there’s a procession taking them to this burial ground.

Manzanillo Beach

About 1 hour away from your villa is the town of Manzanillo and Manzanillo Beach. The town is tiny, and just like many towns and villages, the main attraction is its fabulous white sandy beach. It’s great for taking long walks, swimming, snorkeling. If you can, stay for the beautiful sunsets and enjoy one of the local restaurants. For those looking for peace and tranquility, you’ve found it.

The Town of Manzanillo

The Town of Manzanillo has more than just it’s a beautiful beach. If you’d like, you can go on a bike or hiking tour of the area. A tourist favorite is Nature Observatorio – a treehouse 25 meters (8 stories) in the air, visit for a few hours, or spend the night. Either way, you’ll have a new viewpoint of the rainforest and wildlife. There are plenty of restaurants in town and even more within 5 miles.

Pochote

In less than 10 minutes from your front door, you can be in the little town of Pochote. There’s a wide selection of activities, including fishing, ATVing, or just relaxing on the beach. Tambor Beach

Close to your villa is Tambor Beach, and its quiet little fishing village. This beautiful spacious beach has gentle waves where visitors can enjoy watching dolphins, swim, kayak, canoe, and fish. Sand color ranges from dark brown to black. People are friendly, and it’s not crowded. Small planes fly overhead and land nearby. Currents can be strong, so be cautious. Pack a picnic or visit one of the nearby local restaurants.
